HB Public Law provide advice and assistance to local authorities and schools on a wide range of education law issues.  School clients include academies and maintained schools across all phases of education from nursery to sixth form, including special schools.

We provide strategic advice around decision making; policies; school place planning; school organisation; establishment of schools and school improvement.

We provide a comprehensive service to schools addressing issues with school admissions, attendance and exclusions; compliance with statutory duties including equality law, freedom of information and data protection; advice and representation in litigation including disability discrimination cases ad claims for judicial review; support with governance and assistance with complaints handling.

We offer advice to schools and local authorities with regard to special educational needs and EHC Plans including home to school transport duties.  We provide advice and representation to local authorities at tribunal hearings for appeals relating to EHC Plans and we can secure preferential rates for specialist barristers for representation in the Tribunal and other courts if required.

We provide training to school staff, governing bodies and local authorities, which can be bespoke to address whatever needs are identified.
